Supporting customers with changes to food labelling regulations
Here at Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Bury we've been working hard over the last few months supporting our lids and shrink sleeve customers through the latest changes to food regulation requirements.

Whilst the Food Information Regulation (FIR) directive, set to come into force in March 2015, is designed to simplify current rules to make it easier for consumers to understand labels, its brought with it a number of challenges for many of our customers in the dairy, food and beverage markets.

Although consumers may not notice that much change in their packaging, for many of our customers it's meant significant changes and compromise on branding have had to be made on their pre-cut lids and decorative shrink sleeves in order to accommodate requirements such as the minimum font size for all mandatory text, nutritional tables and information on allergens.

That's why we set up a project team to help guide customers through the changes and offer technical advice and practical design solutions to ensure that by March 2015 all their packaging meets the necessary requirements.

With more and more regulations being imposed on the food and drinks industry and brands facing greater competition on the supermarket shelves, we're always looking at innovative packaging solutions for our pre-cut lids and shrink sleeves range. Recent innovations include our unique coding solutions for lids and shrink sleeves and extended pocket sleeves that allow for additional text.
